…for those that are following along , this is part two of Deborah and Jono’s wedding the Midland Hotel in Manchester.

So we headed back to The Midland Hotel in Manchester, it’s sometimes a race to get back between me an the wedding car…fortunately it was a vintage car which always makes it easier !

Deborah and Jono had a very busy day at the Midland Hotel, but they managed to find ten minutes to grab some very quick bride and groom portraits later in the evening !

We had a wonderful lit dance floor for the first dance and was treated to some fantastic songs by a Michael Buble (inspired singer), he was extremely good unfortunately I didn’t get his name !

Deborah and Jono live and work in Abu Dhabi so the wedding day was the first time I met Jono !

Deborah had come back from Abu Dhabi a month before the wedding to get the planning underway, so fortunately, we had met one another before the big day. I remember when I first spoke to Deborah and Jono on the phone, maybe it’s just how my brain works, but I just remember “Hi Ric It’s Jono here, I’m in Abu Dhabi, we love your work and want to book you to be our wedding photographer !)….at this point I was mentaly packing my suitcase ! But unfortunately for me Deborah and Jono were flying back to Manchester for the wedding, maybe next year. [..so if you are getting married in abroad, in Abu Dhabi or any where else let me know, I'm happy to travel !]

A quick trip into Manchester city center for Bridal prep to start the day. The wedding reception was to be held at The Midland Hotel, so Deborah had stayed the night before, always a good plan ! The Midland Hotel is possibly one of the Grandest Hotels in Manchester and if it’s on your possible list of wedding venues, then I’d certainly pop it near the top, if you can get the date you want !

I think we can safely say the Midland Hotel in Manchester is a fantastic venue for your wedding !

The rooms in The Midland Hotel are fantastic, spacious, grand and luxurious. All great ingredients in getting your wedding off to a good start !

No better way to start the celebrations than a few bottles of champagne and strawberries ! [Coffee does it nicely for me though]

The beautiful earings were a gift for the Bridesmaids from Deborah and Jono. They were from Tiffany’s.
[I bought my wife 1 share in Tiffany's many years ago, still waiting for them to send her some free jewelry though !]

One of the many benefits of being at the Midland Hotel, is the size of the rooms, there’s space for everyone to get ready without feeling claustrophobic, keeps everyone nice and calm. They have great big windows too giving plenty of natural light for your make up artist !

Room service were busy today, Deborah and Jono have some wonderful friends and family…they kept sending bottles of Champagne up to the room !

We left the girls [with the champagne] at the Midland Hotel and headed off to Worsley.

St Marks Church Worsley

Deborah and Jono were getting married at St Marks Church in Worsley. It’s a beautiful church very close to the The Worsley Park (Marriot Hotel Golf and Coutry club), and  Worsley Court House. Both of which make great wedding venues too !

It was my first meeting with Jono, he’d only flown in a few days before and we hadn’t had the chance to meet up, but it didn’t matter we had a great time and fortunately he wasn’t nervous in front of the camera.

The guys looked very smart in their top hats and tails, fortunately is wasn’t too warm, so they were quite happy to keep their hats on !

St Marks is a fantastic looking church, one of the nicest in Worsley, unfortunately when we were their they were repairing their roof because some unscrupulous people had stolen the lead from it !

Hopefully the next time we are back at St Mark’s they will have had the chance to complete all the repairs, and remove the scaffolding.

Deborah and her Mother arrived at St Marks in style, in a beautiful wedding car.

The rain held off, right at the last minute ! Two minutes before it had been raining , the ushers had the brollies at the ready !

Jono still looked calm, normally I find the groom’s are getting a little bit wobbly at this stage, Sorry boys but it is the groom that seems to be more nervous than the bride on the big day !

Sadly Deborah’s Father had passed away a few years ago and so the duty of walking her up the aisle fell onto the shoulders of her mother Maria.

Maria looked extremely elegant as did all the ladies, but then you would expect that as Maria has her own Couture Bridal shop in Didsbury.

” Not losing a daughter but gaining a son”

St Marks is a wonderful church, but unfortunately it’s one of those churches that doesn’t allow photographers at the front. Some churches unfortunately have had bad experiences with amateur photographers [claiming to be professional wedding photographers] who clearly have no idea what they are doing and end up running around in the ceremony thinking they are on a fashion shoot. This then impacts on us all. On arrival I was told by the verger that I was to remain at the back of the church and take photo’s from there. Which is fine and we work with what we are allowed to do, but at the same time it’s very frustrating when the videographer was allowed to be at the front ??

I did ask if I was allowed to set up a camera on a tripod (remotely triggered from the back) at the front next to the videographer, but that was also not allowed. I’m afraid photographers in St Mark’s are not, certainly last year, overly welcome. Which I always find sad as It means we can not capture the ceremony as we would like.

So depending where you are getting married, if you want the photographer to be able to capture certain moments from the ceremony, it’s worth checking with the church/venue officials what is allowed, before booking, just to be on the safe side.

Being at the back of the church is fine as long as you know what you are doing and that you have the correct equipment, which I do and I have…but unfortunately it does mean that you do not get the angle that you want. So details like this, capturing the moment the ring goes on the finger are virtually impossible to get because we need to be on the other side. But I think it’s still a nice shot, could have been better if we had been allowed at the front, but I’m sure Deborah and Jono will still love it !

[For my photographer friends that read this blog, this was shot on a 5dmkii with a 70-200 lens racked out to 200mm [I did have a 1.4 extender in the bag, but didn't need it ]

At least when Deborah and Jono turned to face one another I knew I could get a great shot !

After the ceremony we had a quick ten minutes to get a few formals taken…as the wedding was running behind schedule and we should of already been back at the Midland Hotel.

Then it was a [very fast] drive back to the Midland Hotel, park up and get ready for the Wedding reception 1

Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Seal ! A few quick sneaky photos from their wedding at Norton Grange, whilst the rest are being processed !

We definitely lucked out ! I think we’ve just had the mildest November in Rochdale for years. Blue skies, no wind couldn’t of asked for better weather !

The Norton Grange is a wonderful location for a wedding, great grounds and plenty of space inside ! [just in case you have bad weather, not all winter weddings are as lucky as we were !]

We  had great winter Sunlight nice and low just behind the trees, gave us some wonderful backlit photo’s !

I didn’t get this couples name , but they told me that they got married at Norton Grange 5 years ago!, So congratulations to both of them ! {if they email me, I’ll send them a nice print of this photo, as a memento of their wedding at Norton Grange !

Diane, exercised the Brides right to be a little late…not sure how long, but we’ll blame the driver !

I find that nine times out of ten, it’s always the groom that is ‘emotional’ on the day. Today was no exception ! We are a privileged bunch who get  to photograph weddings, and it’s not very often in life we get to see such magical displays of raw emotion in others, but today was no exception !

Some marriages I see, I know that the couple will be together for a very long time ! Congratulations again to Mr and Mrs Seal !

I’ve not counted yet this year…on how many ‘blue’ weddings we’ve had and how many ‘red’ weddings we’ve had, Tony and Diane are most definitely CTID !

I knew this was always going to be a great wedding…and I certainly wasn’t disappointed !

Congratulations to John and Sadia on their wedding ! The images are all currently being edited…but here is a little sneak preview !

I wasn’t due to meet Sadia on the day till the time of the Nikaah…but fortunately I was a good few hours early and managed to get a few sneaky shots before Sadi went into the Radisson Edwardian Hotel.

We had been to the Radisson Edwardian Hotel for John and Sadia’s engagement shoot a few weeks earlier, as with most of my couples we always try and fit in an engagement shoot before the big day ! The engagement photo’s at the Radisson Edwardian are here.

We’re back at Smokies Hotel again !

Smokies is a lovely hotel for either your civil ceremony, wedding reception or both !

Gina stayed the night before, so we had a nice relaxed start to bridal prep…

Gina assured me that the felt tipped pens and colouring books were for the children ! But it certainly looks like a handy tip for Brides to pass the time before there big day !

The Medlock Suite at Smokies Hotel looked fantastic, loved the colour scheme that Gina had picked, it looked absolutely stunning. The Medlock Suite is a great size room and looks wonderful once you get it decorated like this !

The flowers looked amazing, the orange and chocolate brown colour scheme looked fantastic.

Gina and Marc had wanted an Autumn wedding to get the wonderful colours of the changing season.

Marc and the boys arrived at Smokies Park nice and promptly, for a few shots before the ceremony.

Worsley Court House is another great location for your wedding, today was one of the hottest days of the year.

Congratulations to Mike and Laura on their wedding day, we met up with them last month for their engagement in Worsley. [ Worsley engagement photos ]

As you can see from the photos the weather in Worsley was scorching hot, I thought Mike and the guys were going to melt it was that hot !

We started the day over at the Worsley Marriot Hotel for the Bridal prep with Laura and then moved across to the Worsley court House, for the civil ceremony and the wedding breakfasst

A little bit of bubbly in the morning always helps to settle the butterflies !

Then off back to the Worsley Court House to meet the boys ! …it was getting very hot now !

There is a small lawn to the front of Worsley Court House that is ideal for Bride and Groom portraits as well as  for some smaller group shots.

Just down the road from Worsley Court House is this fantastic cobbled bridge going over the canal, most Saturdays during the wedding season you’ll find a bride or groom and photographer on there !

Worsley Court House

The interior of Worsley Court House is beautiful, full of character and a great place to get married. There is wooden paneling on all the walls and some great chandeliers !

It can however be a little dark in the main hall, especially during winter weddings, so make sure you have a professional photographer who is happy working in dark conditions, in can be quite a tricky wedding venue for the less experienced. Fortunately, I have photographed lot’s of weddings at the Worsley Court House, so I am quite happy with what to expect. (I like it there !)

I’ve seen this look seen this look so many times before…but it’s still great…definitely either “the cat that got the cream” or “I’m the luckiest man alive” look, probably a bit of both, what do you think ?

Congratulations to Amy and Daz who were married today at the Norton Grange Hotel in Rochdale. Unfortunately for a September wedding it had rained the day before so the grass was out of bounds as it was very wet !

The Midland Hotel is probably one of the grandest hotel’s in Manchester, I know I certainly enjoy photographing wedding’s there.

I had the pleasure of photographing Deborah and Jonathan’s wedding there on Saturday. Bridal prep started nice and early with champagne and strawberries, coffee for me, over at the Midland.

From there we had a quick trip over to Worsley, to St Mark’s Church.

The Midland Hotel Manchester

Back to Smokies hotel again for me today. Gina and Marc are getting married at Smokies hotel in October so we popped over there on Sunday for our final meetup before the big day !.

Gina and Marc are getting married in the Medlock Suite, which will also be used for the wedding reception. We hopefully going for a quick trip up to Alexander park in Oldham, on the wedding day to get some fantastic photos’ of the newly married couple. So we decided to pop over there and have a quick look around before the big day.

Can’t wait till the wedding lots’ happening on the day ! I can’t say any more but it should be a fantastic wedding, congratulations again to Marc and Gina   !!!

A quick trip over to Worsley Court House today for Mike and Laura’s pre-wedding meeting and engagement shoot. Mike and Laura are getting married on the 30th September, so not long to go now !

Whilst the Court House itself doesn’t have very large grounds of it’s own, there are some fantastic locations right on it’s doorstep.

We had a wander down to the cobbled bridge going over the canal. The flower in Laura’s hair had a vintage/retro feel  about it, so I have processed these images with a bit of ‘Vintage’ styling!

Mike and Laura were fantastic, I always prefer to do an engagement session with a couple before they get married if possible. It gives us an ideal opportunity to go and have a wander around the venue, decide what’s going to happen when and where, and have a bit of fun too.

Mike is a very tall chap, so I may have to take some ladders on their wedding ! But sometimes it pays to be sneaky and by sitting Mike down, I can get a great shot of them both !

The water in the canal at Worsley usually has an orange tint in it. Water feeds into the canal from local mines and has traces of iron ore in it, hence the orange colour. As we move into Autumn the colour of the canal and the turning colour of the leaves allows us to get some fantastic images. If you are having a Autumnal wedding Worsley Court House can be very picturesque.

Congratulations again to Mike and Laura, I can’t wait for the wedding. We are going to have a fantastic day on the 30th !
